A Caterina Murino splendidly committed to the cause, and pregnant, inaugurated yesterday in Arzachena, at the Michele Ruzittu Civic Museum, the photographic exhibition "Through our eyes", dozens of black and white photos taken by Alessandra Cossu in dog shelters throughout Sardinia; an initiative wanted by the actress herself.

"Until 5 years ago - she said - I had very little interest in animals. I always admired them from afar, as wonderful creatures, to be looked at and respected always with that certain distance, as if they were not part of my world, of "our" world. Then one day, a kitten named Benito, had the brilliant idea of falling asleep in my arms and there ... my world and their world turned upside down and became one". Following the adoption of Ilithyia, in 2020, the actress continued, "it made me understand how much ignorance had kept me away, for so many years, from that wonderful world of theirs and finally, with my eyes wide open, I discovered another world that I did not know before: the world of strays, of abandonment, of mistreatment of dogs and cats used as objects and as such thrown away when they were no longer useful. This is the real reason for this photographic exhibition: I would like you all to focus on those eyes, human and otherwise, to discover that there is no difference between us and them. Inside those eyes lives the same identical soul that makes us live and suffer… exactly like them».

The exhibition "Through our eyes" includes 40 black and white photos by photographer Alessandra Cossu, who last year 2024 took a 7-day, 2000-kilometer trip with the actress, visiting canines, shelters and volunteers for a charity campaign, a trip "which documents the little-known, often ignored reality of abandonment and mistreatment of pets through photos". Images, the photographer emphasizes, "that capture the daily life of animals betrayed by their families, their emotions and the tireless work of volunteers". The aim of the reportage is to "make the public aware of the importance of adoption". The photographic exhibition is accompanied by a documentary film directed by Fabrizio Pinna, which documents the work of many volunteers during the 2024 Crocchette tour.

The project, conceived by actress Caterina Murino, was promoted in Arzachena by councilor Stefania Fresu and by the director of the municipal company Geseco, Anna Maria Zedda. The exhibition will remain at the Michele Ruzittu museum until June 8, with free admission. To support the initiative, you can purchase one or more photos and make a donation.
