From inmates to future entertainment professionals. This is the opportunity offered by the project “Prison at school”, presented today in Sassari at the headquarters of the Fondazione di Sardegna, promoted by the cultural association San Domenico Caniga, with the collaboration of the Studios Academy of Rome, and financed by the Foundation. With the course offered to those who, for various reasons, find themselves in prison, the aim is to offer the chance of important professional training but also to allow redemption and reintegration into society. «The entertainment sector is constantly growing – explains Anna Cherchi, founder of S. Domenico Caniga and guarantor of inmates in Sassari – and presents a wide range of job offers not only with stable and remunerative professional outlets, but allows young people to develop advanced technical skills and to work in a creative and dynamic environment, and also be a resource for the community».

There are several potential outlets and, just to name a few, they range from lighting and audio technicians to the roles of set designers, video equipment management, editors and lighting managers. The project includes a second action, focused on pedagogy and consisting of a “Course on Restorative Justice” that will be held in middle and high schools by socio-psycho-pedagogical and legal experts with the valuable contribution of testimonies from prisoners and people subjected to alternative measures to prison. «The goal is to raise awareness among young people about the value of legality, about the troubled experiences of people deprived of their liberty and about the importance of re-education and reintegration into society as “Well-Being operators” – specifies the designer Dora Quaranta –. The idea is to create a humanizing and constructive experience towards respect for public property, trying to prevent violent attitudes and reduce the “logic” of the adventure in the illegal».

The project could end with the creation of a music-artistic festival of free expression curated by the young students participating in the "Legality and Well-Being" Tour. Present at the presentation were the deputy mayor of Sassari Pierluigi Salis and the representative of Endas Fiorella Donatini. Taking the floor were the lawyer Anastasia Fara, the president of the Studios Academy Furio Capozzi, the prefect Grazia La Fauci, then the director of Uepe Sassari Carmen Magistro.
